Avengers: Infinity War isn’t just another Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster, it’s a groundbreaking culmination of big screen continuity, literally 10 years in the making with all roads leading here.
For such a big and highly anticipated movie, it’s essential that people respect each other enough to avoid any and all spoilers so it can be experienced properly by all fans, not just those who saw it first.
With that in mind, don’t expect this review to explain my ratings or to analyse the movie in any detail whatsoever!
If you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War and you’re not sure what to think, but don’t want it spoiled, this is the review you’ve been looking for…
Overall plot, surprises and continuity all excellent. Full marks, no spoilers. #ThanosDemandsYourSilence
A movie with this many bodies taking up screen time has no right to score highly in this category, but some characters are beautifully fleshed out and developed and others continue overall growth and relationships even in the small moments.
The category everyone expected to score highly, no disappointment here.
The various visuals of the different Marvel movies all brought together in a single shared universe, including epic action and VFX making even the most fantastical seem believable.
Only two actual songs credited, which is crazy, but both set the scene perfectly and the rest of the soundtrack and SFX did nothing but help build and deliver each beat of the movie.
A decade in the making, so many moving parts both in this movie and around it.
Of all the reservations I had about ways this movie could have disappointed me, all were unfounded.
The first of its kind in many ways.
Much less child-friendly than many Marvel movies, some confronting scenes for adults too and a decade of prequels that can't really be cut down to less than a half-dozen pre-requisite movies.
We want more!
Watch the other movies first, but definitely catch this one in cinemas (not that it's going anywhere any time soon!) and stay until the very end of the credits...
