Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Wolfenstein: The First Order was WAY better than I had expected so the bar was set pretty high for it’s first numbered sequel. Does The New Colossus deliver? Let’s break it down!

STORY

GREAT

One of the games greatest strengths is the incredible storyline. The game is action packed! It manages to walk a fine line between dark and delightful while handling some pretty heavy material. And the story just gets better the deeper you get in the game. I don't want to spoil anything major but HOLY SHIT YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME!

CHARACTERS

GOOD

Like its predecessor, The New Colossus is loaded with fun characters. A lot of familiar faces popping up along with some fun and interesting new additions. The Nazis, as you would assume, are insane and terrifying. This makes hunting and killing them all the more satisfying.

ENTERTAINMENT

GREAT

The game is full of fun and exciting moments. Nazi Robots! Big Explosions! What more could you want? And the side missions allow you to revisit previous locations to hunt down the worst the Nazi's have to offer, so there is always something new and exciting to be doing.

VISUALS

GREAT

The style is absolutely stunning. Visually the game is gorgeous (I could only imagine what kind of joy new XBox One X players will be experiencing) and the stylised alternate USA design is perfectly executed. If you're not to busy blowing shit up there is a lot of wonderful work going on behind the bullets.

SOUNDTRACK

GOOD

The score is well placed and well executed. Many times throuout the story I was on the edge of my seat, heightened by the Sound effects and atmosphere add to the emersion.

EXECUTION

GREAT

With the bar set so high for this sequel it seemed unlikely to live up to the expectation, but this game nails it. Graphically gorgeous. Incredibly entertaining. Beautifully executed.

ACCESSIBILITY

GREAT

While the game lacks a multiplayer, the single player campaign is incredibly accessible. The multiple difficulty settings allow you to either breeze through the campaign and experience the story feeling like a superhero all the way to dying the instant you see a Nazi. You also have different gameplay style options. Stealth your way through, silently taking out soldiers one by one, or go in guns blazing, destroying everything in sight!

ADDICTION

GOOD

The savage beatings that this game have given me are far outweighed by the extreme fun I have had! This game is insanely good. The story is incredible and it gets harder to put down after every mission.

4/5

This game is pure joy! The story is well handled and even though the concepts within are quite heavy this game never stops being fun and entertaining. Once you get started you really do feel like an action hero in the best possible way. I highly recommend jumping in and giving it a try for yourself. And if you missed The First Order do yourself a favour and play that too!
